The fifth grade has been writing thrilling adventure stories. Today, we got to share them with the second graders! Readers WRITE & writers READ!

Today, I attended the funeral of Aaron Lentz. The church was packed with family, friends, and people whose lives he had touched. Among them were two football teams—the Minot High Magicians coached by Chauncey Hendershot  and the Lewis and Clark Longhorns coached by Paul Rudolph—showing up to support their teacher, coach, teammate, and friend grieving someone they loved. As I sat in the back of the church, I was reminded that some of the most meaningful lessons we teach happen outside a classroom. Public schools teach academics, but we also help children learn how to be part of a community. We teach them to look beyond themselves, recognize when others are hurting, and understand that sometimes the most important thing they can do is simply show up.  Today, those lessons were visible in the presence of these young men. Football brought them together as teammates. Compassion brought them into that church. I sat there as a proud mother-in-law, mother, principal, teacher, former athletic director, and former coach. My pride was rooted in seeing our students demonstrate care and respect during a difficult day. Thank you to superintendents Marc Ritteman and Scott Faul for allowing these young men to attend, support the Lentz family, and stand beside members of their school communities. Thank you to the coaches, staff, and families who help teach these values every day. To the Lentz family: you are loved, and our school communities stand with you. Rest in peace, Aaron Lentz. Jacey Erickson, Lewis and Clark’s technology integrator, visited North Shore Plaza’s English classes in grades 8–12 to explain how generative AI and machine learning work and how they are used in a variety of AI applications. Thank you, Jacey, for helping our students better understand the technology shaping their world! Also, a shoutout to the NSP students for dressing up in support of our volleyball team’s PINK night.

Come out tonight to support our Lady Wildcats as they take on the Parshall Lady Braves. Close Up will be providing a bake sale, dirty sodas and concessions. All proceeds will go to the 2028 Close Up group. Let's make it a great Pink Out Night.
