There’s a new place for friendship on the Berthold School playground: Hudson’s Buddy Bench. 💙💚
We hope it reminds our students that when they need a friend, there’s always room for someone to sit beside them.

The 8th grade class was learning about the scientific method by doing an experiment making alkaseltzer rockets. They had to figure out what made the quickest and most powerful rocket by adding different amounts of water to a film canister with a 1/4 of an alkaseltzer tablet. The 8th graders came up with their own experiment to test their hypotheses. They really enjoyed the lift off part of the experiment.
The fifth graders were expert "worm watchers" today as we investigated why worms are important to a garden and our environment.
Students in Elementary Phy Ed have been working on the skill of overhand throw! While using this skill, students also incorporated team strategies to play a live version of the board game Battleship! Such a fun activity!
The Berthold Multimedia class is getting ready to upload the first episode of our new school newscast, the "Bomber Brief." The "Bomber Brief" will air once a week during the remainder of the school year. Each episode will become available on the morning of the first day of school that week. Watch for our first episode to air on Tuesday morning, September 29 (no school on Monday) on the Berthold Bombers YouTube channel.

September 30 is National Non‑Speaking/Nonverbal Awareness Day. At Lewis & Clark District #161, we honor students who use alternative communication methods, from picture boards to speech devices, and celebrate the creativity and resilience they bring to our classrooms.
Did you know? Non‑speaking does not mean non‑thinking. With the right supports, students can express their ideas, feelings, and talents in powerful ways.
Communication comes in many forms and every voice matters.
Let’s continue to build a school community where all forms of communication are valued. 💙

In honor of the start of fall, our first graders learned why autumn is sometimes called “fall” which is because the leaves fall from the trees! We also learned why leaves change colors as the seasons change. 🍁
To celebrate our learning, we made beautiful leaf rubbings with crayons! The students loved seeing the different shapes, textures, and colors of the leaves come to life.

There were plenty of smiles, laughs, and colorful creations as our students began forming meaningful connections and building amazing relationships across grade levels. We can’t wait to see these friendships continue to grow throughout the year! ✨

We had Senior Safari, SpongeBob, Backyard Barbecue, Superheroes, the ambulance Convicts (orange is the new black), Hunting, Barbie and much, much more go through our parade in Plaza today! Everyone in 4th Grade had the best time, and we even got to spend time with the Berthold 4th Graders! What an amazing day for Lewis and Clark!!

Place Value + Movement = A Winning Combination in 2nd Grade!
Homecoming Week has been full of fun at Lewis & Clark–Berthold, but we squeezed in some math fun along the way, too!
Our second graders have been working hard on place value to 1,000, and they’re gaining confidence with every lesson! On Thursday, we took our learning around the room—literally!
The kids played Place Value Around the Room, a math AND movement activity that had them up, moving, thinking, and showing what they know! They practiced representing 3-digit numbers in four different ways: 🔢 digits, ✏️ number names, 🧱 base-ten blocks, and ➕ expanded form.
Who says reviewing math has to mean sitting still?! 😉
It was a fun, active way to reinforce our place value skills—and our second graders were definitely moving, learning, and having a whole lot of fun! ⭐️
During Homecoming Week, our students and staff proudly wore blue and green in honor and memory of Hudson Bryantt—two colors that held a special place in his heart. It was a meaningful display of remembrance, support, and the strength of our school community. 💙💚
