West Farm Safety Camp openings are still available in Minot Farm Safety Camp is an overnight, hands-on, workforce safety skill development program designed for youth ages 13-16 years old who plan to work for a farmer/rancher, either on their farm or for a non-family-related operator. Participants will learn Β· Safe tractor operation, including a tractor driving obstacle course Β· Livestock handling Β· ATV certification through North Dakota Parks and Recreation Β· Rules of the road Β· Farm machinery operation Β· Farm first-aid, including official Stop the Bleed certification Β· Agricultural youth laws Β· Equipment operation and maintenance By successfully passing this program, participants will receive official certification to operate tractors over 20 horsepower and some pieces of farm machinery when working for a non-relative farmer or rancher. This certification is not required for youth to work on their own family farm – however, we highly encourage participation in this program, even if your child will only be working on the family operation. This certification is required by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Hazardous Occupations Order in Agriculture (HOOA) for 14-15-year-olds and meets all requirement standards. Participants who are 13 years old, and successfully complete the program, will receive their certificate on their 14th birthday. Check in is at 10:00 am CST on Tuesday, May 21. The Parent Leadership in Action event is on Thursday, May 23 at 3:00 pm, followed by a graduation ceremony and checkout. The registration fee of $300 includes lodging and meals for each camp, as well as personal protective equipment items for participants to keep and use when working on the farm/ranch. Limit of 16 participants. Click the button below to register. Farm Safety Camp Registration Link Scholarships Available Peterson Farms Seed is proud to support the 2024 Farm Safety Camp.
