The second graders wrote opinion pieces about changes they’d like to see at school.
They had big ideas! Some wanted a swimming pool. Others asked for more reading time to grow their brains. A few hoped recess could become a Roblox video game party. One brave student suggested longer school days, while one wished for a cozy sleep time each morning.
Even though their ideas were different and some were the same ideas, they all practiced sharing reasons and explaining their thinking. They learned their voices matter! They might try to get on the agenda for a board meeting!
