This week in the Berthold preschool, learning the letter Ii stood for something especially exciting — ice cream! The class turned their lesson into a hands-on science and music-filled celebration by making their own ice cream in a bag.
Using a simple homemade recipe, each child combined milk, sugar, and vanilla in a small zip-top bag, sealed it inside another bag filled with ice and salt, and then got ready for the fun part — shaking! To keep the energy high, the preschoolers had a “Shake Dance Party” to Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off. Jumps and wiggles filled the room as the kids danced and shook their bags until the liquid mixture magically turned into ice cream.
When it was time to open the bags, the excitement was contagious — each child had created their very own bowl of real ice cream! The sweet treat didn’t stop there; everyone got to add their favorite toppings, choosing from chocolate, caramel, and colorful sprinkles.
Soon, the room was full of happy faces, sticky fingers, and satisfied slurps as the preschoolers enjoyed their frozen masterpieces. It was the perfect way to bring learning, laughter, and a little bit of science together — all while celebrating the letter Ii in the most delicious way possible!
