As part of our work with the letters A, T, and P, the children had the chance to experience apples and popcorn in fun, memorable ways.

The adventure began with a visit to Mrs. Eide’s apple tree. Excitement filled the air as the preschoolers reached up high and bent down low to pick bright, crisp apples straight from the branches. Each child proudly carried their apples back in a bucket to the school to take home,

Back in the classroom, apples became the star ingredient for homemade apple pies. With guidance and teamwork from their 5th grade buddies, the children prepared the crust, spooned in the apple filling, and decorated the tops with lattice strips or leaf-shaped cutouts. Then, the pies were ready to be baked. The students took their pies home as a yummy treat to enjoy with family.

Last week, our preschool room was popping with excitement — and popcorn! The kids used all their senses for this tasty lesson. The children explored popcorn as part of their letter P activities. They used two different kinds of popcorn poppers, watching with excited eyes and listening carefully as kernels heated, exploded, and turned into fluffy white pieces. Giggles and cheers followed as the popcorn spilled out and filled the bowl. a tasty and exciting way to end their study.

With apples, pies, and popcorn, our preschoolers had the perfect recipe for fun, discovery, and fall memories.
