Reporting the Weather

The 8th grade class as a part of their final project had to come up with a weather forecast on 3 severe weather phenomena that had occurred. They needed to report on the severe weather, explain how they formed, and the consequences of the storms. They chose the following 3 storms. The 1925 Tri-State Tornado of 1925 that occurred to the towns in Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. The path of the Tornado covered 219 miles that started at one pm on March 19th and lasted until 4:30 pm. The second weather phenomena was the 1966 Blizzard in North Dakota on March 7th. The blizzard had 70 mile/hr winds with 38 inches of snow with 30 to 40 ft high drifts. Most businesses and schools were closed. The only part of the state not affected to much was the extreme northwest North Dakota. The last severe weather event was Hurricane Katrina that happened in 2005 in New Orleans. The hurricane was a category 5 that had 175 mile/hr winds on Aug 28th. The action news team braved the weather and was able to bring the news and information about how these severe weather events occurred.
