The 2nd graders posing with their pumpkin projects.

Earlier this fall, the 2nd graders got the chance to paint, help construct, and decorate jack-o-lanterns made from wooden posts.  This might be a familiar project for many of the kids in school.  It all started years ago in 5th grade with Miss Dolan and her mother,  Mrs. Dolan.  Miss Dolan's mom loved to come into her daughter's classroom to make craft projects with the 5th graders throughout the years.  Some time later, after Miss Dolan retired from teaching, she would come back to help me make these cute jack-o-lanterns with my 2nd graders.  One year we made some pink ones for Officer Al to donate to local people battling cancer.  After a couple of years of helping she felt comfortable with me continuing on my own.  I still take out the pumpkins that my own kids made with Miss Dolan when they were each in 5th grade.
