Lewis and Clark School District Driver Education

Dear Students and Parents,

It is time to start planning for the Driver’s Education Program this summer. The course is offered to all students who have turned 14 years by May 1, 2024. One must remember that it is a privilege to drive a vehicle and must be earned. Not all young people are physically and emotionally ready or may lack maturity. These individuals should delay the Driver’s Education Program to a later date.

**Students MUST have their permit before the first day of class.  No exceptions! **

DATES:  Driver’s Education includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and, at minimum, 12 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. The instruction site has not yet been determined, but transportation will be provided.   The dates for classroom instruction are:

May 21, 22, and 23 – 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. AND

May 28, 29, and 30 - 9:00 am – 2:00 pm

The dates for each student’s behind-the-wheel will be determined after the first day of class.

SIGN UP:    This letter contains a link at the bottom for signing up for the course.  The link opens on Monday, February 5th, at 12:00 pm.  The course is open to the first 30 students who sign up.  A non-refundable down payment of $60 is due within one week of signing up.  You can pay at either school’s office.  You will be notified of your acceptance status via email.   You will be moved to the bottom of the list if no payment is made.

COST:  The fee for taking the Driver’s Education course will be $85.  A parent’s night will be offered on Wednesday, April 24, at 7:00 pm at North Shore Plaza.  Another one will be provided on Wednesday, May 1st, at 7:00 pm at Berthold High School. If parents attend one of the parent night sessions, a $25 discount will be given.
